Our Pastor, Rev. Dr. Luther S. Allen III

Rev. Dr. Luther S. Allen III serves as Senior Pastor of First Lynnhaven Baptist Church, in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

 

Dr. Allen is a native of Richmond, Virginia, a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, and a former public school English teacher. He has received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from Norfolk State University, a Master of Divinity Degree from the Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University, and an earned Doctor of Ministry Degree in Congregational Mission and Leadership from the historic Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota.

 

As a “Missional Theologian,” Pastor Allen is committed to bringing the Gospel, the Christian life, and the African American Baptist perspective into “Public Square” conversations that cross the barriers of ethnicity and culture.

 

 Dr. Allen is active in interdenominational fellowships such as the B-CARES Pastor’s Dialogue (Norfolk), the Christian Ecumenical Network (Virginia Beach), Ysleta Lutheran Mission Human Care (El Paso, Texas) and the CBF Pan African Koinonia (Caribbean and Diaspora).  Committed to the recovery and restoration of Godly manhood, Dr. Allen also serves as a part-time Shelter Manager with Union Mission Ministries in Norfolk.

 

In addition, Pastor Allen participates locally and nationally in African American Baptist denominational leadership. He is:
  • the 2nd Vice-Moderator of the Tidewater-Peninsula Baptist Association
  • the President’s Liaison for the Tidewater Region of the Virginia Baptist State Convention, Inc.
  • a regular writer for the National Baptist Informer and Baptist Voice
  • a Certified Dean and Instructor with the Sunday School Publishing Board of the National Baptist Convention USA, Inc.
Dr. Allen is married to the former Jacqueline Claud of Southampton County, Virginia. They are blessed to be the parents of two adult daughters, Kaelani and Victoria, as well as two granddaughters, Madisyn and Mara. He is a proud member of Malik Fraternity, Inc., an African fraternity established in 1977 at C.W. Post College on Long Island, NY.
